Why help these women ?
A Chinese proverb says: “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and you will feed him for a lifetime.” It is with this idea that the future site of the MAMA foundation will strive to be autonomous by growing their own fruits and vegetables and raising small livestock. This living environment will, in turn, teach these young mothers to sustain themselves as they go forward into the world. It is essential to the goal of the foundation that these women will be helped in a critical time of their lives for as long as needed, but also to learn the skills necessary for their future independence.
